Linda McInerney, Founder and Artistic Director of Eggtooth Productions, discusses their Full Disclosure Festival in Greenfield, MA, born of ‘blind dates’ between artists, climatologists, and anthropologists.
Linda McInerney has worked for over 30 years as an actor, singer, director, and producer in New York and throughout New England, with credits including Circle Repertory Company and ABC’s All My Children. She is a graduate of Middlebury College with a double major in Theater and French, and studied at the National Shakespeare Company Conservatory. McInerney studied with Mira Rostova, and has been a member of Actors Equity since 1983.
She earned an MFA in Directing from the University of Massachusetts. As Artistic Director of Eggtooth Productions, her credits include The Glass Menagerie, The Belle of Amherst, Blithe Spirit, Sealskin, John Brown’s Body, Women of the Valley, Roshomon, The Miser, Pride’s Crossing, Plainsong, Molly Sweeney, She Stoops to Conquer, W;t, Waiting for Godot, The Cure at Troy by Seamus Heaney, The Importance of Being Earnest, Women in Arms, Don Juan by Moliere, Doubt, Still Life With Toe Shoes and A Christmas Carol. She is the commissioner, director, and producer of The Captivation of Eunice Williams, Truth – a new opera about Sojourner Truth, and Frankenstein in a new adaptation by Lindel Hart.
In the last six years, she has created festivals in Western Massachusetts that create opportunities for artists while helping to build creative places and engage the public in challenging conversations. An example is the Full Disclosure Festival with the theme of: AGAINST THE CURRENT, HUMAN IMPACT UPON PLACE. The idea is to connect climatologists, anthropologists, and historians with artists to find new ways to express what we know and what we don’t know about the state of our earth past, present, and future. By connecting artists with researchers we allow the Artist to translate the academic language of Science and History into a populist language of ART. This is a way to bring academic knowledge to the public in an effective way; to touch them and incite them to action, to engage them in conversation, and to encourage reflection so that scholarly data may be experienced in an embodied way.
Since 2010, McInerney has been engaged with commissioning new work from world class regional and international artists. Those productions include: New Vaudeville Holiday Spectacular, Breastless, Water Project, You Don’t Know Jack, Happyland, Immersive Winter’s Tale, Canary, My Bronx, In the End and more.
Linda lives in Greenfield with her husband Chris with whom she raised two sons, Matt and Mark.
